How to make the video static/non 360 for youtube?

by Michael H » Fri Jul 03, 2015 11:29 am

Hi Guys
I was just wondering how I can make a video 'static' so to speak? If people watch my videos with an iphone on youtube, it looks like this as Iphones cannot support it right now...

However, the tomorrowland 360 video on youtube is locked so that people with iphones can see just one seletion of it and not the entire 360 degree field??

any idea how I can achieve this??

Cheers
Michael

This is a weird case scenario lol
You'd have to strip the 360 metadata... Is quality a big issue? If you recompress it with compressor it will strip it for sure

but when I strip the metadata then it is not 360 anymore right?

and i am referring to this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j81DDY4nvos

because if you watch it with a browser which does NOT support 360 then it looks like a normal video, but my own video would have the 360 effect-stretched image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2xY8hylEyg

and yes quality would be a big issue, i would need it as sharp as possible

why can't you use crop to select the part you want and upload only that?
I think I'm not exactly getting what you want |:

the thing is that when I send the youtube link to friends, most of them will be on their phone... so there the youtube app comes up and plays the video... and with the tomorrowland video, it does it nicely with just that 'crop'... but when you open the tomorrowland video on a browser it changes automatically to the 360 option so you can swing around like normal... and i want the same thing, as right now, on the iphone youtube app, it is displayed the other way

I don't think there's a way to tell youtube to crop a video for the iPhone, I'll look into their documentation again later
