360° video loader (feature request)

by g_lab » Sun Jul 09, 2017 4:17 pm

Hi,

since panoramic videos take some time to load before they start playing. I think it's quite important to have some kind of loader animation like we have for panoramic images.
This feature has been requested earlier quite some times and seems to be on the feature request list for at least two years.
(see viewtopic.php?f=91&t=28675&p=173322&hilit=video+loader#p173322 ).

It would be even better if videos could be streamed like on Youtube where they start immediately without the need to be fully loaded.
Alternatively some kind of preloader would be fine so videos that are accessible from one scene (via hotspots) are loaded in advance. This would reduce the time to wait until the panoramic video scene starts.

Could one of these things be done? And is it likely that it would be implemented in the near future?
That would be great!

I've moved your topic to the Panotour Future forum.

Videos streamed like Youtube wouldn't be possible, on Youtube your videos are rencoded in so many different ways and on many different servers to maximise and optimise loading, this isn't the case for a simple web page or virtual tour.

Videos can not be preloaded in the KrPano player, which is what Panotour uses.

Thanks, Anni for the info.

So I hope for some kind of loader animation in the near future.

Best regards,
g.
