How to export little planet?

by deedee7 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 9:50 pm

Hello,
Is there a way to export the "little planet" image from PTP? If not, how to do this? I want to extrct an image of just the little planet effect form one of my spherical panos.
Thank you.

in those cases I needed such an image I did:

create the tour with panotour pro. then I started the tour locally on my PC went into fullscreen and did reload the lonk, so that the little planet is starting. Then I did press the "PRINT" Button above the number block...
... than starting gimp or photoshop elements etc. and a SRTG/CTRL + V did paste the copied screenshot of my little planet.
than finnally doing a little crop so the menubar and other elements get cropped...

not the most elegant way I supporse, but works...
Georg

What software are you using to stitch the images together?

Neil.

Hi Neil
I'm using PTGui Pro 9.1.3. I Know that there's an option there for "little planet" (setreographic down) projection, however I usually postprocess the complete pano so the option in PTGui only gives me a raw l.p. Hmmm, unless I should save the settings I used in post and then apply them to the little planet from PTGui -hmmm...
Anyways, I just thought there was a piece of software that could make me a little planet from a complete spherical pano.

PS method is NOT good for full 360x180 panos. Things that are sticking out into the sky(like a lighthouse or a skyscraper) get flattened. Polar Coordinates works great for cropped panoramas though(like 360x120). But, we don't do many of those around here do we ;) ? So, I guess your first suggestion is the way to go.
