Animated .png sequences as hotspots...

Hi everyone,
quick question about integrating animated .png files as hotspots:
first, I created a sequence of 10 .png files 40 x40px.
then, I placed them inside the "hotspots" folder (Library/Application Support/Kolor/PanoTourPro15/Templates/Themes/Graphics/2dPure/Hotspots).
They are correctly numbered, but when I assign the graphic to the hotspot, nothing happens...
I can see the first image but no animation.

Has anybody experience the same situation?

Thanks in advance,
E.C.

YES!

I asked that also - in "placing video . . . " the question how to use alternative buttons/navigation.
The answers sound rather simple - as long as you don´t try to realize it . . :P

best, Klaus

You have to describe/define them in the appropriate <theme>.xml file - the screenshot shows the hotspot section of the 2D.xml file.

You (also) have to describe/define them in the appropriate <theme>.xml file - the screenshot shows the hotspot section of the 2D.xml file.

If you compare the description here with the related graphics I think it will slowly become clear how Kolor makes this work.

Hi Jarane!

I see you´re also on Mac. Which one of the template folders did you use? I´m not sure which is the correct one. Nobody seems to be able to explain it . .

Another question is: can we use the Spot0.swf if it´s not for iPad-ready use?

From within PTP Edit/Open templates directory will take you to the correct templates folder.

You can use it but it isn't going to work on iDevices that don't support Flash.

I don't think it's possible to use any of the animated types of hostpot provided in the default set of themes in PTP and have them display on iDevices is it?

I don't have an iDevice so I can't test it.

As far as I can see PTP builds an embedded SWF from the image sequence defined for animated hotspots so I presume that isn't going to work with iDevices.

Thanks guys... got it working!!!
unfortunately it has a limit of only 10 images in the whole sequence :(
I tried changing the default to 32 (cause my sequence has 32 images) but it only plays 10.

Also, has anyone tried to display a png sequence as if it was a movie?
Thanks again,
E.C.

Yes - so i´ll have to re-design the sequence with pulsing circles as png resp. gif-animation i guess.

thanks again and best to you, Klaus

I don't understand what you mean.

According to the comments in the <theme>.xml files it seems that PTP generates a SWF animation from the image sequence defined for an animated hotspot graphic.

I just tried using an animated GIF as a user-selected (other...) point hotspot Display/Object graphic and it doesn't animate when the tour is viewed.

Testing with a simple iDevice compatible one pano tour suggests that PTP theme animated hostpots do work on non-Flash devices at least with Safari on Windows XP with user agent set to iPad so it loads the idevice version and not the Flash version.

So that means we should be able to create a version of the add-in APTstyle theme which includes a version of your animated pulsing circle graphics for point hotspots which will work with both Flash and iDevice of tours.

Klaus,

It gets more 'weird'.

I created a one pano iDevice compatible tour using your pulsing white circles SWF as the user-selected graphic for a point hotspot then viewed the tour with Safari on Windows XP.

If the user agent is set to Safari on Windows then the Flash version is displayed and I see pulsing white circles - screenshot 1.

If the user agent is set to Mobile Safari for iPad then the non-Flash iDevice compatible version is displayed and I see (somewhat jaggy) pulsing black circles - and inspection of resources reveals that this is an animated GIF - see screenshots 2 and 3.

Thanks guys,
As we now know, PTP supports image sequences as hotspots on mobile devices.
My question is: could a mobile device possibly see a larger size image sequence and play it?
I have some 4-10 sec .swf files that would be great if they could be converted to image sequences and played on a mobile device

Thanks again,
E.C.

To have animated hotspots work in the same way on both Flash platforms and iDevices you need to create those animated hotspots as part of a theme in the same way as the animated hotspots are done in the default sets of themes.

Destiny understands how to do this - ask her to add suitable animated hotspots to the APT-style theme.

How do i know how they were made? I didn´t made them - and there´s no description how they were made or how to make them.

You know, that´s taking too much of my time - i´m very busy ´right now and i´m definitely fucking angry having to waste my time with such bagatelles like to get back a former working hotspot which doesn´t torture my and my client´s eyes . . . sorry.
