Hi,

I bought the Panogear a while ago and I am mostly making panoramas with my Canon 40D and the Samyang 8mm lens. The panoramas turn out great.

I know that many of the professional users on this forum probably are tired of answering questions from newbies (there are a lot of documentation I know), but I cannot for the life of me manage to make a script for my Papywizard that works with 40D/50mm.

Can someone help me with this?

Any tips on how to mount the camera (portrait/landscape) is greatly apreciated!

Regards,
Ingve

Hi Ingve!

A big welcome here first.

I can´t tell you how to make a script for PW - i use the T&C controller, which self-calculates the positions for the camera even with spheres. But i suggest to mount the camera in portrait-mode and very carefully (!) set it for the NPP. I guess you know how to do that?

Thanks for the welcome :)

I am not completely sure...I think I managed to adjust the camera with my Samyang lense, but there is one thing that I have been wonderding about; I use this page to find the data for my camera and lense (http://wiki.panotools.org/Entrance_Pupil_Database) and when I calculated the nodal point, what do I use as a reference point on the panogear?

Try this - it's for a Nikon cropped sensor body and 50mm lens, but will probably work for a Canon cropped sensor body too.

Copy and paste into Notepad (on Wimndows) and save with UTF-8 encoding option (see screenshot below), you may name the file as you wish so long as you use the .xml file extension.

Then access the custom preset file from Papywizard using the File/Import Preset File... option, to load the custom preset on a per session basis. You may wish to step through the shooting positions using Step-By-Step mode to check that the camera body will not collide with the Merlin mount at extreme positive pitch angles.

As Klaus recommended, mount the camera/lens in portrait orientation and at the NPP.
