The layout on this page...
http://www.panobook.org/

...appears to be faulty. There are two fields where you can enter your username and password, but the only button you can click on says 'Log out'. How can you logout before you are logged in? I tried entering my username and password, then clicked on the 'Log out' button, but this failed. I then tried entering my username and password, then hit the Enter key (on my keyboard). This failed as well. There appears to be no way to submit photos.

The resolution and formats are given just before the upload form ( to remind you these aspect for each image :) ).
It's not in the main page as it would make this page too long.

To make it simple :
- 50 MB as maximum size, jpeg or tiff only.
- we won't accept aspect ratio too long ( over 6:1 ), it doesn't look well in a book. You need to print that on a roll to enjoy such ratio.
- if we detect color profile we'll use them. "Prophoto RGB" is a right one.

I've corrected the button name. Was a small error in the translation.

Je suis vraiment déçu que le principe de "chaque photographe a au moins une photo" ait disparu, ce qui était pour moi l'esprit du livre :(. Je ne suis pas sûr de participer cette année.

---------------

I'm very disappointed that the idea "one photograph - one pano" has disappeared. In my point of view this was the strength of the book. I'm not sure to take part in it this year

Yes, Edge@51, I'm a bit disappointed myself about that part too. We were looking at this problem from any viewpoint and we didn't found a solution.
On one side, we really wanted that each image gets really a good exposure, and on the other side, we know that there will be far more contributor this year.
When we showed panobook 2009 to professional from edition, they said, you are crazy, too much image for the number of page. Imagine the same book with 2x more images. No one will like such a book. We had one idea : keep the same system : 150 images that will be put on 200 pages, and then add 3, 4, 5 pages with giant photo walls to put on theses 5 pages to add the rest of panorama to meet that "one photograph - one pano" criterion. Each pano will be really small in fact. Would you really be more happy with that solution ? I don't think so.
That's why we needed to take this decision.

Just to be sure... when you say "pano" for the panobook, you really mean "stitched photo", thus allowing pictures of classical proportions, not just images with pano-proportions. Am I correct there ?

Yes, definitively. A panorama means here a stitched photo. The proportion can be from 1:1 to 6:1 at most. Over that ratio, we don't accept that.

Note : I added a counter on the first page.
In 18 hours, 74 contributors signed the agreement and uploaded 71 images already. With that success, in 2 months, we'll had to review 5000 panoramas ...

One idea : for the moment, every contributed panorama are kept private. What about making a panorama wall to show all contribution in September ?
Something like a giant gallery ? Good / bad idea ? Just had this idea ...

5000 panos ! Being able to follow several selections (location, subject, selections from the jury members) ?

BTW, any hope for gigapixel and 360x180 panos where a screen viewer is required ?

Why not... it could be a good idea.

Some time ago, I proposed that you could make a web site with all photos not in the book; then, the idea of having at least one photo published could be kept, not in the book, but in a nice associated gallery...

So we could imagine to have a companion website ( geolocalized gallery, photo wall, etc ) that could work together with the book. It will restore a little this lost spirit of "one photo per contributor". So if you are really in the book, that will be the definite dream, if you are not, you will still be in the website among other cool panoramas.

For my point of view: goal is to be part of the book, and i'm not sure of interrest of the website as autopano forum still exist !!! and it's a great site with cool panoramas

An other point in favor of the original idea: one pano for each contri: is that I have bought different books because I was proud to offer them to friends because of the presence of some of my pictures... I'm sure that people (me the first) wouldn't buy several books if theirs pictures are not present in the book....

That's the problem, it become a contest, and it is no more an "amateur" book.

True. If there were any real alternative solution :( As I said, we might get really a lot of images and contributor.
We really cannot put everybody in the book. But if you have an idea about that, I'm really interested. I told you one idea we had, but it's just not good.
