English
----------

Hi everyone,

Let's launch the discussion about our yearly meeting! Every year in June, Autopano users meet for a special week-end: talks, conferences, photo workshops and photo outings are proposed.

The two previous meetings were open to any Autopano user (or future user) and were very successful. The weak point was the language: the meeting was held in France and all conferences were in French. Therefore, English-speaking users were not incited to come.

Autopano Meeting will now be different: 'open to all' means 'open to all'! Thus we propose to hold a bilingual meeting in an easily reachable European city.

Which city? Well, we didn't decide yet, and you will actually decide. We have several ideas but prefer you talk about that to choose a good spot. Just take into account that the city should be well served by plane with low-cost airlines.

About the program: what type of conferences would you like to attend? For those wishing to hold a conference, please propose your conference here or send us an e-mail.

Last meeting was held in a small village of France near Bourges (south of Paris), in a catered group accommodation property including meeting rooms, computers and internet access. The first day, we visited a photo museum and went to Bourges for a nice photo outing. We had dinner in Bourges and finished the outing by night. The second day, Alexandre Jenny, founder of Kolor, announced Autopano 2.0 new features. We also presented the Panobook project. The afternoon was dedicated to conferences about shooting methods and tripods, along with workshops about Autopano. The presence of Arnaud Frich was very fulfilling.

The discussion is open!

Français
-----------

You would say that, Klauss ;)

I'm really excited by this prospect, and look forward to further developments. Cologne-Bonn would indeed be a great venue for accessibility, both in cost and location. There are links to good inexpensive hotel rates too on the GermanWings website.

Is it intended that the members agree on the dates as well, or is that something that will be decided beforehand? If so, is there any idea of when in June it would be? The earlier we all decide on a date and location, the earlier we can book our cheap flights and hotels.

Thank you

Damo

I'm really very surprised that there has been no further discussion on this. I would have thought it would be getting more interest.

If not, then those few who have expressed interest will arrive at Chez Klauss in the middle of June. Don't say you weren't warned, Klauss :D

Have the drinks ready.

Hi All

I lost this topic for a while, I think it needs to be made "Sticky".

Haven't been to Germany yet. I would be interested.

Cheers

Tim

Would love to see Bonn again; very nice city! Koln is also a good choice...

Discussion ouverte

-----
We (my wife and I) will assist to the 3rd meeting. In fact it would be certainly easier to go in an European Capital (for sure it will be well served by plane and lowcost and especially with departures from others cities than only capitals). And as other idea, why not to associate this meeting with a sunny climate and go in the South Europe for example, Madrid is a superb city.
Let's discuss...

I suppose the interest in the release of 1.9.5 has taken everyone's attention, but I think we should not forget to keep this in mind, or otherwise, May will be upon us, and then there will only be one month to plan. As was said before, the earlier we decide a venue and date, the earlier and thus hopefully cheaper, we can book flights and hotels.

There is also the need for time planning, regardless of where and when it is. It would help to know when in June it will be so we can help plan other things around it, if need be. There are some things I've been invited to, but cannot say yet, because I don't want to commit to them until I know if I can go for certain.

I would again give my backing to Cologne/Bonn as the venue, as it has such good connections for air rail and road from all directions. We have so much to learn there, it will be good to see the faces and personalities to match up with so many familiar names.

Keep the chat going and we can look forward to it even more.

Damo

Yeah - Bonn would be fine. Cologne also. Duesseldorf would be even finer - elegant, decorative . .:P

best, Klaus

I vote for Bonn, even if, unfortunally, I won't be able to go to this 3rd edition :(

J'ai quelques encâblures de retard... C'est mon Trekker qui m'a parlé de ce post.

D'Allemagne... j'ai quelques souvenirs : Düsseldorf, Munich, Berlin...

A couple more questions to consider...

Will this be a weekend event or midweek? Edit... Just read the original post and see it is a weekend event.

Will any presentations be shown on Friday evening or just to meet up? If not, I guess those who arrive on Friday to stay there and be ready for Saturday, can have an informal viewing of each other's work over some drinks and some food.

Alexandre, I'm not sure if I've understood this properly from the translation I got. What is the reference to a double meeting? Would the bus be to drive people from the Lyon-Grenoble area to Cologne?

Good to see you entering the discussion on this, as hopefully it will speed up progress on planning :)
