Wireless tethered shooting

Starting from this great idea:

http://webuser.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/gphoto/remote.html

I tried a different approach. Instead of running gphoto2 on the device, I used usbip, a nice freature added in recent linux kernels.

So, I compiled a very light version of OpenWRT for my NSLU2, connected my camera to the NSLU2, configured usbip to export my camera, and was able to use gphoto2 from another computer :P :) :D It is even possible to download the images!

I think this is a very elegant solution. Next step will be to compile a better firmware, setup a wifi connection (using a usb-wifi or ethernet-wifi device, or switching to another hardware, with integrated wifi), and make some scripts to automate the camera export (tricky part).

I will also give a try to USB Server, another solution to export usb device over ip (there is a NSLU2 package for OpenWRT).

I wonder if usb/ip would work on nokia handhelds?
I've been researching same topic as you but slightly different approach.
Wireless usb and other linux handhelds.
open pandora for example.

Having the usbip client working on the N8x0 will be the next step. But this will require to cross-compile the package and the kernel module. I will need some help for this point, as I failed to install the (strange) Nokia toolchain, some months ago...

If you are interested, here is an interesting thread:
