Georg, This preset needs two information. The first information is about the source camera system so that the script can calculate the FOV etc for each shot. It also needs to calculate the target or output FOV. In order to calculate that it needs to know of the target format, its focal length and its orientation. This is similar to what you enter as number of shots or FOV in the Papywizard.
The beauty of the script is to simulate multiple format with multiple lens at your hand with your source camera and lens.
The current script is not checking for any FOV restriction of the source and target formats whether the output FOV is smaller than the source FOV. The example you gave source 18 mm and targe 400mm, it will still create a preset which has only one shot.
I am showing here the toopltip generated in that case.
As you see, the ouput FOV is smaller than the input FOV. So you do a crop 1608,536 pixels of 4272, 2848 pixels of the one shot taken by Reble XSI as mentioned in the tooltip.

As per the request of one of the Papywizard users, I added 12 different medium format camera/digital back system to the crop factor drop down. All the 35mm format now show up as
where the first number is the width of the medium format camera/digital back sensor in mm and the second number is the height of the medium format camera/digital back sensor in mm
Please use the first thread to update your version of the script and also refer to the "Crop Factor" section to identify the 35mm crop and medium format camera by its sensor size.
About crop factor. You can use the huge list provided with autopano to calculate the sensor scale. It's a file called cameras.txt and gives sensors scale for about 1100 camera now. This file can be found in installation folder of autopano ( ressources folder ).
Thanks for information about the crop readily available. Let me take a look at the file and see how it can be included in the script. It will make it easier to choose by the camera name rather than the crop factor.
This preset generator simulates a lens, which then results in a total fov, depending on the crop factor of the camera sensor used behind. If you want to give a fov, just use Papywizard, which can do that.
