2.5 mm jack to Merlin ------- usb cable to camera?
Thank you for that.

I use the Gentled Jump to trigger the shutter of the D40 via IR.

Merlin cannot control a D40 via USB.

If you camera(s) offer a means of triggering the shutter using a wired remote, or an IR remote, than use those methods with Merlin/Papywizard, rather than connecting via USB, which is tricky and for which there no off-the self- solutions AFAIK.

OTOH this special cable - mentioned previously - should work for your Canon S5is, Merlin-USB:

But contact James Gentles to check before ordering; you will have add a 2.5mm jack plug and provide power to it, probably easiest to do with batteries. Ask James how best to do this and make sure he knows you want to use it for a Merlin head and Papywizard, he may be able to make up a special variant of it for you.
