It runs fine on 10.5.6, but crashes on 10.4.11.

I've only had time to do minimal testing - please post your results here.

Great job, Jeremy! Does anybody tried it?

olihar, you don't need a Merlin head to us it, as there is a simulation mode when not connected to any hardware...

Yes I have tried the program and as far as I can see it runs smoothly. Great job. Now the excitement waiting for Bluetooth support can start.

Hi,
one question: does Papywizard connect via Bluetooth to the Merlin on a Mac?

I am asking this because i just had a test with Paul´s head - he could communicate with the head via BT from his Windows Laptop. I could see his BT-module on my Mac but Papywizard did not see it. Instead it said that files were missing (see screenshot).

I am searching for a BT module at the moment - but i would like to be sure that it normally "should" work...

In fact, it should possible, but you need to establish a connection with you device using the system tools, in order to emulate a serial port (SPP service). Then, you can use the serial driver in Papywizard. The problem is to find the serial port the system created...

Like here, but with bluetooth instead of usb:

i had papywizard 2.0.0 open but not connected to the merlin head. now it crashes on start up. after changing the auto connect and serial port numbers.

i have tested the head on a pc with the driver and it worked. com port 3 was what it was on then but wont work on my mac :(

how do i find / make the usb to serial adapter work on a macbook pro running 10.5.6 i have tried 3 driver versions for the usb to serial device but still no luck. i feel im missing a step or somthing. what do i do?

what is my serial port number to ad in the hardware configuration tab section so i can ''connect''

here is my device from ''system profiler"

USB-Serial Controller:

Product ID: 0x2303
Vendor ID: 0x067b (Prolific Technology, Inc.)

We have an untested version of Papywizard with bluetooth support on OSX. Why untested? Because I do not have a bluetooth head connection. If some OSX users with bluetooth connection could test for us that would help a lot.

Is this still Mac OS X 10.5 only? I tried it on 10.4 and got this in the Console:

2009-05-03 20:40:58.413 papywizard[375] A Python runtime could be located. You may need to install a framework build of Python, or edit the PyRuntimeLocations array in this application's Info.plist file.

I know I have Python, because I use it :/

Have a look at this post:

You should find the correct port in /dev/...

I have tried it and it runs fine, I can however not try to connect to the Merlin as my bluetooth BlueSmirf if broken and I have been waiting since Easter for bluetooth module from Germany to replace it.

I hope to be able to test it as soon as possible when I get the module.

I've try the latest version but i can't connect to bluetooth :
When i try to choose the merlin i have :
"impossible de scruter le bluetooth"

The log file :

2009-05-04 18:26:37,303::MainThread::INFO::Scanning available bluetooth devices...
2009-05-04 18:26:37,305::Dummy-4::EXCEPTION::refreshBluetoothList()Traceback (most recent call last): File "papywizard/controller/bluetoothChooserController.pyc", line 108, in refreshBluetoothList File "bluetooth/__init__.pyc", line 36, in <module> File "bluetooth/osx.pyc", line 3, in <module>NotImplementedError
2009-05-04 18:26:37,370::MainThread::ERROR::Can't scan bluetooth

When i try to connect :
"Impossible de se connecter au matériel
Cannot load LightAquaBlue framework, not found at/Library/Frameworks/LightAquaBlue.framework"

But via macosX i can see the head in the bluetooth preferences.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ok, there are several problems, here. The first is I forgot to use the MacOS lightblue module in the 'Choose...' dialog :( I'll fix that.

Then, it seems that the LightAquaBlue framework is not installed or correctly packaged. Jeremy, do you get the same error when you try to connect through the bluetooth driver?

I tried connecting and got no errors, eventually it timed out (which I assumed to be correct). I'll package up a new version with the changes and have a closer look. It is likely I missed some required modules from the package.

Ok here it is,

http://happiestdays.com/downloads/Papywizard-r1836-OSX.zip

Includes the latest changes and the LightAquaBlue framework.

In particular could you test the bluetooth chooser, this does not work for me and has been flagged as a possible issue. If it doesn't work try finding your bluetooth address and type it in directly.

I don't understand why it searches in /Library, as it is installed in the papywizard.app/Contents dir, like other frameworks (Qt)!

I connected to the Merlin with bluetooth using serial in Papywizard.

Connects fine and seems to work well as far as I have tested.
