To confirm, you mean NK Remote from http://www.breezesys.com/NKRemote/index.htm, correct? Which is basically the same as DSLR Remote Pro, but customized for Nikon control signals?

I thought at first you might mean Nikon Camera Control Pro 2, but i think you mean from Breeze

Yes, this is the Breeze product.

What is Nikon Camera Control Pro 2? Do you have a link? Do you think it could be used from Papywizard?

not sure if it has hooks or not for other software. This is official Nikon software.

I don't think so and it's absurdly expensive for what it is - IMO it should be supplied as standard with any compatible Nikon camera.

Nikon never supply anything as standard ;)

Jake, if you find some information how to control it from an external software (a dll, or a little command-line xex or batch file), let me know, and I can add support in Papywizard.

What we need is to be able to trigger the shutter by giving the exposure compensation; the call should only return once the picture is taken. Maybe someone on a Nikon forum knows how to do that...

A new release is available (2.1.16). I made a lot of modification on plugins architecture, for plugins using hardware (Merlin, PixOrb, PanoBot, Servo).

Please, test it as much as you can, as I *really* want to release the stable version from this one (I know, I already said that several times!).

On XP with SP3 - Help/About doesn't appear to be working.

Test on Ubuntu Karmic (python 2.6) (Acer Aspire One Netbook) package installed :
•papywizard_2.1.16-1_all.deb -- Paquet pour Debian/Ubuntu (python2.6) (French Wiki!)

Very easy to install (like on Windows) and work perfectly !!! :)

Many thanks Fréderic :D:)

P.S. on the Papywizard English wiki, the second link is correct but the mention is not correct ...
•papywizard_2.1.16-1_all.deb -- Debian/Ubuntu (python2.5) package (python2.5)

Hi,
I tried to install on Nokia N800, it loads the package but then the program manager does not recognize it,
the package size is reported with a size of 0 byte
and reports a corrupted package.

Is there a release note with the changes of the last version?

Hi Paul, thank you for confirmation, seems I messed up some other packages...
After reinstalling the other required packages I could also install it now.

Which version are you using? I fixed this link (didn't check under Windows, but it works fine under gnu/linux).

This was in the stable v2.

In v2.1.16-1 Help goes to the SVN, About Papywizard doesn't show any dialogue box , About QT is correct.

Kev

ps on installing the Windows 2.1.16-1 first time through the programme doesn't run and fails with an error that it can't locate the main config file, running it a second time the programme is fine as I assume the file gets made during the first attempt?

Hello Kev,

You can use the "v2.1.16-1" , except for the small bug you mention, this work "perfectly" :)

Thank you Claude :) The fun begins when the N810 turns up I haven't played with Linux for about 10 years and even then I was just dipping my toes into the water to see what it was about lol

Could people using the Ursa Minor USB interface contact me? I would like to make some tests with the dedicated plugin (I made some modifications)...

Thanks,

I'd like to ask a question about timing - i think there is also a bug, so i'm posting it in this thread:

I'm using The Merling head with an Ursa Minor BT interface connected to a Windows machine. The setup works perfectly with the 2.1.16-1 version.
I'm trying to set up for shooting with a D700 and 400mm lens. With this combination, the head moves approx. 2,5 deg and it takes roughly 13 sec. to move to the next position. In other words: it takes ages (3,5 hrs for 1000 images) for a full panorama...

I have noticed the new driver implementation which can go faster than the original. However - in such small angles it won't. -> Maybe it would help to set the inertia angle in the Merlin plugin configuration to a lower value but if you set to an angle below 1 degree the head will behave erronously (starts moving somewhere and doesn't stop any more).
I think that's a bug.

My question is:
I would be interested to hear if it would be easy to implement a method to move the head faster - even at the cost of less precise positioning? Maybe by omitting the acceleration ramp? That would be faster, even if one has to include some seconds stabilisation dealy which can be well used to already lock up the mirror ;-)

Best regards
Bernhard

Are you sure you have the latest firmware on the Merlin head? See:

http://www.autopano.net/forum/t7773-warning-buggy-new-firmware-skywatcher-multifunction-head

This is strange the head takes so much time... Does anybody else have the same behaviour? I don't have my Merlin head right now, but I will check. What if you decrease the focal lens (incresing the step angle)?

To answer your question, no, it is not possible to do what you want to do, at least from a non real time computer or through a bluetooth connection (Josef is using a wired connection with it embedded controller)...

Frederic, thanks for your quick reply!

I have the head from Teleskop-Austria and i'm sure that i'm using the correct firmware.

Focal lengths below 150mm will make the head to turn fast. Everything above will result in slow movement.

It sounds comprehensible to me that the BT connection may be too slow to speed up things. So i merely thought about just telling the head where to go and keep the communication channel quiet as much as possible. However, i don't have enough insight to evaluate this possibility ;-)

Best regards
Bernhard

Hello Bernhard, could you have a look on the Log (just after connecting between Papywizard and your PC!)
You will find the Firmware version just 2 or 3 lines before the end of the log !
