Yes, and I think I know why: when I generated the 1.3.6-3 package, the version was already set to 1.4.0 (I was about to release the stable version). So, when you installed the real 1.4.0, the configuration manager found that is was the same version, and didn't updated the config file, which has changed to support color scheme (internal design only). I think that there were an exception, there, but as I disabled the window traceback on windows to avoid a popup when the software ends, you didn't see it.

I have to enhance the exception handling on all GUI callbacks, so each user action shows a error message if needed. This is on my todo list.

Frederic

I'm sure that's the explanation - thanks, I like to have 'mysteries' resolved - I did notice that 1.3.6-3 reported as 1.4.0. I don't suppose many others will have tried 1.3.6-3 but if they have and run into the same problem we know how to solve it now.

1.4.0-1 is working fine on Windows XP and 2000.:)

You have done a great job of enhancing functionality and at the same time you have also enhanced useability - that rarely happens with software.

It will be strange not to have something to test for a while - I may even have to resort to shooting panos.

I just loaded up 1.5.0-1 and it does the same thing. I load the software, then push the third button on the left of the 770 to bring up the three option list: file, hardware, help. if I click file with my stylus, the program closes.

This is a problem I have experienced with earlier versions of Papywizard but not with the (3?) most recent releases.
I thought it was now 'history' - although I'm not sure that Frederic was ever able to definitively identify a cause, because at times when I had the problem with some releases others didn't.

I certainly don't have this problem with 1.5.0-1.

Since these updates are so fast I have no idea what to install on my N770.
My nephew (Mac-consultant) will help me today at 11.00 (Amsterdam time.) to flash the OS and install Papywizard
I have no BT module yet, still waiting for the plug and play version.....

Frank,

Here are the install instructions for the Nokia 770 and other Nokia Tablets:
http://www.autopano.net/wiki/action/view/Install_Papywizard_on_Nokia_770_N800_N810

Good luck! If you get stuck, post on the forum - I'll be checking for new posts on the Forum (no email access this morning) fairly regularly until you tell us you have got it up and running.

Seems that person failed to renew their domain name on Nov 26 - ugh!

I cannot find any other place to obtain that file.

You will have to look for a different app that will allow you access to root.

I'll see what I can find too.

'Panic' over.

Great news. Congratulations, Frank. You are now a fully fledged member of the (currently rather exclusive) Papywizard international users club.:)

Now you will have to control your frustration of not yet having the ability to control the Merlin.

They say patience is a virtue - do you feel virtuous?;)

Did you put together a shutter release cable for use with your cameras on the Merlin head?

Hi Andrew.
The "root part" was a bit scarey but it works now.
No idea how to enter/add presets, will look at it tonight, have to work now.

The Merlin came with a mini-jack Canon release cable for the 450D and I have a 5D release cable with minijack female.
So that problem is solved.

Now the BT adapter, yes, I have to wait.....
For the crown the same.
No problem.

Thanks all for help ! :-)

Frank, do you want a translation for NL language? If I send you the .po file, could you translate it? Does you Nokia use NL, or default to english?

Frank,

I'm composing a post to go in the 'Useful presets' topic to offer some tips:

Nokia 770. Papywizard 1.5.1-1.

1. In text view Yaw (column) counter is not working correctly it increments continuously for every shot position hence you can get, for example, '#20 of 5' displayed. Pitch (row) counter is working correctly.

2. When in text view the counters do not get updated when using Rewind/Forward.

3. What is the icon in the top right corner of the Shooting dialogue for?

4. I would like the icons/buttons for Data file and Timer in the Shooting Dialogue to indicate whether these functions were on or off - green for on, and red for off; perhaps a small square or a small circle in front of the text label.

Confirmed and fixed.

2. When in text view the counters do not get updated when using Rewind/Forward.

The text view only shows the current position, not the one selected for next shot. I will add more lines to also display the next position to shoot, so you can select it using rewind/forward feature.

Nothing for now (it should have been disabled). It is just to have a symetrical GUI ;) But I may use it in the future...

The icon already changes depending of the activation of timer/data file...

Hmm.....I never noticed, but then it is very difficult with my 60 year old eyes to spot the change and that's indoors. IMO a green or red circle/square would be easier to see - the pictorial icons add nothing to useability, when we already have text labels to tell us what these things are for/about.

Maybe you could add a line only when Pause is invoked - to avoid clutter the rest of the time - that shows next shooting position? The text only display is currently uite nicely spaced I feel it would be a pity to add unecessary clutter to it all the time.

I think that is not a good idea. The people who asked for text view mainly shoot very large mosaics - so outdoors in bright light typically.

If anything it would be better to increase the text size in text view so it is easier to see outdoors in bright light.

This is a screen from the Gigapanbot which shows that it is possible to pack a lot of data onto a small screen and still have key data displayed in text large enough to read outdoors.
