PandroidWiz - control the Merlin mount with an Android phone or tablet

by mediavets » Tue May 07, 2013 6:19 pm

The long established Papywizard software enables the Merlin telescope mount, which is also marketed by Kolor and SkiVr under the Panogear brand name, to be used as a robotic pano head. Papywizard runs on Windows, Apple OSX, Linux and Nokia N800/N810 Internet Tablets.

It has not been possible to port Papywizard to Android, but for some time there have been repeated requests for 'something-like-Papywizard' for Android.

Well..it's here now, and it is called PandroidWiz.

PandroidWiz has been developed by Francis Vanhemmens based on an idea by his father, Claude Vanhemmens (aka claudevh) who is also the 'father' of the Papymerlin Bluetooth adapter.

PandroidWiz is a relatively simple app. which doesn't claim to offer all the bells and whistles of Papywizard.

Unlike Papywizard it currently uses presets for all types of pano shooting - Spherical and Mosaics.

Like Papywizard it writes Papywizard-compliant XML data files that can be used with the APP/APG Papywizard Import wizard.

After initial private testing, we are now embarking on an open beta test programme. I'm helping out with documentation and forum management.

If you would like to take part we are supporting the beta test programme via a dedicated forum. Just register on the forum and you'll be able to access download links and documentation.

When we are satisfied with the results of the beta testing, PandroidWiz will be made available via Google play.

If you already had an older version installed, the store may tell you that the application is already installed. Then just uninstall and install it to get the latest version.
Presets and results xml files are not deleted if you uninstall.

To All:
The App's work on my Andriod, Pantech Burst , android_version 4.0.4
all I did was click the uninstall button on Google Play Store then the Install
Button. Here is a link to a movie I made a couple weeks while Beta testing Pandroidwiz App:
http://www.pnwhiker.org/rucklecrk/rucklecrk.htm
Takes a couple minutes to load, best viewed in full screen mode, hope this helps. pnwhiker..
