Hello,
the convenience of the n810 is hard to beat, but how do you transfer the xml to a PC?
Should be a common problem, and hopefully solved by someone. I was not able to find the answer, though.
Thank you for any help.

The default location for storing the XML data files is not accessible when your N810 is connected to your PC via USB.

So change the location to which XML files are written to point to either the extenal memory card (if you have one installed) or the internal memory card - see screenshot below - these appear as drive letters when you connect your N810 to your PC so you can access the files using Windows Explorer (if using Windows).

If you chose the external card slot as the location to which Papywizard writes XML files then alternatively you could remove the card and read it using a card reader if you wish.

Also if your PC is on a Windows local network then the local network shares also show up on the N810 File Manager over WiFi.

Thanks mediavets, you constantly save me.
I cannot see the Nokia on the LAN, but I will try to connect a stick via the usb (I don't have the cable at the moment).
Thanks again

No problem - your question is quite reasonable, I had the same issue myself back in the day.

No, nor can I - but I can see the LAN from the Nokia File Manager - see screenshot - and can drag-n-drop a file from N810 to shareddocs on a networked Windows PC over WiFi, it's a slow process, appears not to be working for a while, but it works for me.

But I usually just connect my N810 to the PC using a USB cable and transfer files using Windows Explorer from the N810 which appears as two new drive letters - one for internal memory card and the other for the external memory card.

Perhaps you misunderstood me before? - I connect the N810 via USB to the PC; I do not conect a memory stick via USB to the N810. In theory if you have a special OTG USB cable that may work - but it hasn't for me. You can also get a small software utility (fro the N810) to switch the USB mode of the N810 USB port but again it's not worked for me. There is very limited power available on the N810 USB port; it might work via a powered USB hub; but hey, it is far easier to hook up the N810 to the PC via the standard USB cable that comes with it. There's nothing special about that cable, any USB cable with the correct conectors will work, I am currently using one from a Nexus 7 Android tablet.

If you need to get a file quickly from N810 to the PC, and lack a cable, you could use any on-line file sharing service too.

I guess it is also possible to use bluetooth utilities to transfert files... Note that I never tried.

Yes, I had misunderstood you.
All clear now. Also, automagically the nokia connected to my nas. Seems quite slow, but I'm far from the router. The USB route seems more appealing.
Thank you. Once I've carried around my (reasonably light) laptop plus all the hardware for an entire day and frankly, I don't look forward to repeat the ordeal.
I will have to upgrade Papywizard to the latest version, but one step at a time...

Thanks, Frédéric. Will use that as a last resort.

Which version of Papywizard do you have installed now?

You should download and install the latest development version for the Nokia N810 - it's easy.

If you already have Papywizard installed then just browse to the download page usung your N810 click on the approprate link for the .deb 'Maemo package' and it will download and install - it's fine to install over-the-top of an existing version.
