12V Sealed Lead

by Mateusz Malinowski » Sun May 15, 2011 1:42 pm

Hello I'm looking for external power for my panogear/merlin mount

"Power Requirement: 12v DC Power Supply (Tip Positive) or AA Batteries (not supplied). Sky-Watcher 7Ah or 17Ah Power Tank Recommended."
In manual instruction is "The SyncScan AZ should be powered by 11-15V DC power suply (tip positive) capable of producing continuous current of minimum 1 amps. Correctly plug the power cord into the 12V DC outlet on the mount."

Can I use 12V Sealed Lead?
For example like those (12V)

Please check PDF info.

And "tip positive" is default in 12V Sealed Lead?
Where is + and - in mount?
What is size of the inlet?
Can I use AA baterries in the same time or should disconnect them?

it's engraved on plastic on your picture  + is in the middle ! Be very careful not to do some mistakes with polarity as there is no protection inside so you'll definitively burn it if you plug it wrong :(

Definitively not, be very careful to remove any batteries inside head before plugging external power and same if you put back internal batteries, unplug first external battery. If you get both power sources plugged in same time, you'll smoke your head !

Hi
is good plugin size 2.1mm/5.5mm? Do i need EMI filtre for sealed lead?

I ask also about DC adaptor. In mount instruction is "minimum 1 amps" ... so I even 2 or 22 be ok? Do I need EMI filtre for DC? I think yes.

No.

I use a 12VDC mains adapter with a 500ma output and it works fine, the mains adapter does not have a filter..
