[APG 2.0.5 Win7 X64]

by vklaffehn » Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:13 pm

Hello, just installed 2.0.5 and played a bit.
I have 225 pictures here (hires shot from norway), APG detects 8 panos, but when I load the biggest one (144 pics) and try to merge one of the smaller sub-panos, APG crashes without an error, right after I clicked on 'open' ind the file dialog.

Hmmm, strange workflow. If all the 225 images form a single panorama, why not use the "force all images in the same pano" option?

Also, share some more details about your setup? CPU? RAM? HDD? What settings you've set in APP regarding memory usage?

Hello, when I force all images into one panorama, I got the 144 pics stitched and the rest stacked up somewhere in the panorama, so I have to move every single unlinked picture. My idea was to get the pics that don't have links to the big panorama, but do link to some other pics as movable 'blocks'. I attached a screenshot to explain : the first pano is the big one, and i.e. the third one, made of 16 pics would nicely fit in the left down edge of the big pano, the second one made of 33 pics would be set on the right.... unfortunately i cant use an importer, because the pics where taken manually, starting on the top left, moving right, then one row down and moving back to the left side and the number of photos per row are not identical.

My Setup :

Dell Precicion MT390
Q6600
8GB Ram
1 TB HDD (RAID0 made of 4x250GB Sata)
Ati 4850 with Catalyst 9.9 driver
Dualscreen setup with 2x19" philips CRT at 1600x1200

GPU enabled in APG
Setting at default, cache set to 519MB

... just tried witout GPU, then merging works....

btw. I don't really know if it is possible to move the added panorama as one piece?

P.s.: looks like the topic is incomplete, sorry for that, should have been : merge does not work ;-)

try changing the detection settings, use high quality and perhaps more CPs. (if that doesn't work, try using low quality:) ) Change the optimizer settings.

I already tried high quality with the same result, but will try low. I also have already played with the detection settings, I thnk its a focus problem, the camera (Fuji FinePix S5600) was set to automatic .....

you can run papywizzard in simulation mode reproducing the chema you shot your pano.
you can than take your papywizzard xml logfile to import it with AP importer...

this will give much better results with blue sky images and green gras...

Georg

Great! I'm moving the topic, now that it seems it's not about a bug.

Hi, it's kind of workaround, because there's still the bug that APG with GPU enabled crashes without error when trying to merge panoramas in the editor, at least on my system :-)

Time to get the bug spray out, or it will end like starship troopers... ;-)
