Is there some way to save a pano image as some sort of stacked image format that can be zoomed into like on the gigapan website? Microsoft seems to have a DZI image file/folder format for this.
Ideally I'm looking for some easy work flow that allows me to create a pano in some stacked format and then put them on my own website. Can anyone recommend anything?
no ... in reply to your question .... no its not possible to create some sort of stacked Image using autopano giga.
But you can achieve what you're describing:
using autopano giga 3.0 (apg) to create the pano... (this can be some Gigabyte sized tiff or Image safed with kolor own Format .kro)
... and panotour pro 2.0 (ptp) (currently RC1) to take this pano to create a deep zoomable Panorama visitable via Website you can embedd to your site.
ptp creates tiles (some dozens square Images up to some Million square Images)
These tiles represent different zoomlevels of your initial Panorama.
so if you create a 18mm spherical pano with 31 Images you may have 3 zoomlevels. and depending of the zoomlevel you visitor is using on your final web-pano the corresponding tiles Level will be displayed.
if you use a 120mm lens you will have 10-15 Levels of zoom, with different tilesizes etc. too.
in consequence a gigapixel pano can have multiple gigabytes on your webserver and uploading millions of small Images can also be a jigsaw challenge....
but the enduser will have not to download all Gigabyte of data first until he can view the pano... because using the multi-leveling and Splitting into small tiles it will only take some milliseconds up to some seconds until the final pano can be viewed online...
just download apg than you can download some demo Images from net (60mb from here: http://hdview.at/speedtest/index.html
create your pano, save it as jgp.
download panotour 2.0 rc1 and use the pano you created to create a tour using the fullpage.html template
without closing ptp than preview the final tour created using the preview button inside ptp...
... and Review all the files created by ptp on your harddisk ;-))
If you use wordpress than you can use panopress plugin to easily embedd your pano (tour created with ptp)http://www.panopress.org/
