I have searched for this question in the forum but did not find the specific point.
If already answered, please give me the link, thanks.
Well, this is my situation:
my camera allows for setting 'Lense Distortion Compensation': Off/Auto.
Both my standard Lense and Camera are from the same manufacturer and fully cooperate.
(Of cause I expect, that the compensation will not be exactly 100% , but perhapt 90%).
According to CS5.1, the image-data show (among others):
- lense[name] (format: http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux/)
- focal length (format: http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/)
- I cannot find any data element that gives info about 'Distortion Compensation'
And this is my question:
For images made with 'Camera Lense Distortion Compensation' = Auto,
do you recommend to disable the APG-Distortion Correction (for avoiding over-correction)?
Or will APG perform even better with this kind of pre-corrected images?
Thank you,
Heinrich
j_h_w wrote:Klaus,
since some weeks I use a Sony SLT-A99 with the zoom SAL-2470Z (24-70mm).
I only use this lense. My images are jpegs, these are good enough (and big enough).
The distortion is different for different focal lengths, but especially visible on the wide end.
With my first set of APG-Panos, I had to apply some manual PS-patching, especially when the images show details like technical bars ('Gitter') etc. in bridges or the like.
I would like to reduce such work.
I believe the question could be of generic interest.
With kind regards,
Heinrich
PS: I have copied the EXIF- related links from a jpeg-image opened in CS5.1->Dateiinformationen->Erweitert->[EXIF-Eigenschaften || Schema]
