Rendered pano is unsharp

by Maw. » Fri May 11, 2012 7:55 am

Hello,
normally I always render with "Bikubic" but the rendered images are always quite "soft" (unsharp).
Now I tried with "bikubic sharper" it´s a bit better, but the source-files are sharper although.

Why that - you recognize the same?

regards
maw

thanks for your reply - problem is, that the RAW-processed files are sharp!
those files I´m loading into APG are sharp, but the outcoming pano is quite soft!

What quality and size settings are you using?

Tell us about your pano.
1. are you using exposure bracketing? how may exposures per position (how deep is your stack)?
2. Did you take it on a tripod? with a pano-head?
3. MF or AF? Manual exposure or Auto Exposure (e.g. aperture priority)?
4. Are your CPs on moving objects: waves, clouds, wheat in a field with the wind blowing, tree branches etc?
5. Not that RMS means anything, but what's your RMS?
6. Is the whole picture blurry or just one part?

1. yes exposure bracketing with Enfuse
2. Tripod with pano-head
3. MF (manual focus) with manual exposure
4. no everything looks fine with CP
5. RMS is around 3.5 - quite good
6. whole picture!

as attachement you see a small gif-animation of the images. First, the original fisheye-image (100% crop), then the enfused "HDR" and the third frame is the stitched pano (with bicubic sharper(!!)) of Autopano.

hey Marc!

I suggest to stay under RMS 2 and the use of "bicubic sharp" or "spline64" as interpolator.

This example seems great to check the interpolation. Could we have a look at this sample case to analyse this sharpness issue ?
Our ftp is here for that : http://www.kolor.com/forum/t766-ftp-server

Still on preparing NYC2012 conference ( and autopano v3 ... ). That's why it takes time. But I won't forget you ;) you are on my todo list.
