Problems with stitching

by Vittoria » Wed Jun 27, 2018 12:12 am

Hi guys.

I am having a bit of difficulties when stitching material shot with two kodak pixpro sp360 4k.

As you can see in the file attached my stitching is somewhat disturbing and I have watched about 10-15 tutorials on how to solve this issue but I'm not getting anywhere.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Also not sure if this is necessary information but the cameras are on a moped so they move from time to time.

I am using Autopano Video Pro 2.5.3 and Autopano Giga 4.2.3.

All the best,

Vittoria

Hello Vittoria,

Did you apply any blending to remove ghost images? Do you have some problem with transitions between the 2 cameras?

Kind regards,
Olivier

Hi Olivier.

I've tried all the various blending presets available with your program and none of them works. This is as good as it gets with the smooth blend.
In the stitching area I saw that the only one available for my cameras was the Kodak-AlexPearce which I also used but it still doesn't work.

The cameras have always worked fine. When working with a previous project this was never an issue but here it is for some reason and I can't figure out what it is.

All the best,
Vittoria.

Hi Vittoria,

What about the stitching quality? Do you have ghost images, a bad stitching which may occur when you do not have enough brightness or area with a lack of details?

Kind regards,
Olivier

Hi Olivier.

The quality in general is fine except for a bit of smudge I did not see in one of the cameras. The lighting is also very good. Much better than the previous project I worked with before.
I had a friend over yesterday and she tried a few different ways of fixing my issue. Another problem seems to be that the stitching line is right inbetween the guys hand so when we tried to get rid of the ghost image his hand looked very wierd.

All the best,
Vittoria

Hi Vittoria,

Sorry for the late reply.

Have you tried to use the mask tool into APG?

Let me know if it helps.

Cheers,
Olivier

Hi Olivier.

I'm so terribly sorry for the late reply. I have been abroad for quite some time. The problem is that the stitching line falls on his hand. Everything else is perfect except for half of his right hand that dissapears and the mirror on that side as well. I've tried playing around with the footage in both video pro and giga but nothing helps at all.

All the best,
Vittoria

Hello,

My turn to apologize for the late reply!
Those tools are not as magical ;as you can imagine! ;) Most of the time it can help improve the stitching but not remove all issues :(
If you're still having problem on the person's hand, you have to apply masks on all the sequence where the problem appears. Quite hard if you have a long sequence, unfortunately.

Cheers,
Olivier
