Using D.Warp after preprocessing OMNI source files?

by SamH » Wed May 31, 2017 5:59 am

Hi There,

I have some great footage I shot with OMNI however it needed some pretty serious denoising as it was very low light. I have selected the chunk of each clip exactly to make sync unaffected, then imported to premiere and denoised with Neat 4. Then I have rendered out all individual clips again and made sure to call them exactly as their source clips were named. APV 3.0 however doesn't recognise them as being from OMNI now so Dwarp is no longer able to be applied.

Is there some metadata I can re-add to these .mov files to allow AVP to correctly see they are from a OMNI rig?

Hello,

You cannot re-inject the OMNI metadata. But you can use the Freedom 360 preset for D.WARP instead of OMNI, with the Alpha 2 version.

Hi Martin thanks for that. Is that going to end up with as good of a result as the omni preset? Can the omni be added to the list and not just auto selected so we can choose it in cases like this?

You will get the same results for the D.WARP. The stitching can change just a bit, but if you choose the Hero 3+ / 4 lens preset it should be fine.

Cheers,

Martin

OK great thanks! Are there plans to add the 360Rize/Heros Pro10 head also?

Hi,

We are working on a generic D.WARP algorithm that should work on a large number of commercial rigs. Stay tuned for the next releases :)

Best,

Claire
