APG crash on Vista 32

by RickDrew » Fri Jul 24, 2009 8:44 pm

I can't stitch anything over 35 or so images - constant crash while rendering the preview. I also use PtGui and can render panos with over 500 images.

I have 4 gig of ram installed - Vista has access to 3.4 gig. Nothing else is running. The regular version of Autopano can stitch over 150 images on my computer - just APG crashes. I downloaded the demo versions to see which version would work better for me. Since I already have KRpano, I was hoping APG would do it.

Any ideas why APG crashes while APP works fine?

How large are your images?

It seems APG needs more RAM - so it seems it works best with a 64-bit OS with more than 4GB RAM.

just some days ago I switched from 32bit vista to windows7RC 64bit - never will back...
APG using...
my shortly expiriences with vista 32 (I've 3GIG RAM, APG cache to 718mb, pagefile of 10-20GIG):
my maximum was 152 images. (MULTIBAND !!! smartblend did not work... TIF did not work because of 1.2 gig filesize so jpeg quality level 12 worked...)

vista 32 152images of 304 360x180 pano: about 10 minutes for pano recognition
win7 304 images: less than 3 minutes (with same PC, same 3 GIG RAM)

rendering pano did succed with the 152 images pano with 10% and 20% final size no more...

switch off any antivirus & firewall...

Georg

You could increase your page-file settings, that may help. but x64 is the way...funny taking it for granted since using x64 since 2005

I went from XP 32 with 4GB to Vista 64 with 16GB RAM. The XP system couldn't stitch some panos that the Vista system can. The XP system crashed a lot, haven't hand many crashes with the 64 bit system.
