New to Autopano | cannot get a "flat", undistorted image

by Toastedspider » Sat Apr 30, 2016 10:41 pm

Hello all,

I'm reviewing a trial installation of AG and cannot seem to get past a basic issue, hoping you can help please.

I have two hand-held images, shot for exposure bracketing (attached). They are pretty close to being registered, just a few pixels off, relative to each other.

The focal length was 60mm.

I can create a single registered image, with layers with the intent to manually blend exposures (manual quasi-HDR).

However the resulting image from the source images always has some non-linear/barrel distortion. I've encountered this with every test I've run, including photos where the camera was locked down on a tripod, so all source files were perfectly registered. A straight-line sidewalk cutting across the image horizontally ends up with curvature; things are bowing out in the center of the stitched image.

Hoping that there's a simple setting to flatten this out (without having to resort to using PS). We are about to shoot an extremely important assignment that will be stitching some 90 images together for a new Hyatt hotel and have to get this right.

Thanks for your help!
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Often I shoot hand-held BKT and when I need to use a fusion software without the ability to align the stacks, these are the settings that I use to avoid image warp.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31164#p181055

If all you need is to align the stacks for manual fusion you can test it.

Regards,

Jordi

Jordi,

Thank you SO much! A quick test shows that we're extremely close if not completely flattened.

Excited to test in depth here...

Best wishes,
Jerry
