never aligns on autogiga, what am i doing wrong

by mugs » Tue Apr 30, 2013 11:22 am

I've been using the canon fisheye 8- 15mm shot only at 8mm, 3 shots at 120* and one zenith shot

but the autogiga software never aligns the images properly, there are always so many errors that i need to fix them on photoshop.

attaching a sample image any reason why the roof is messed up and also the top of the pillar?

any help appreciated.

What happens when you do 6 shots, every 60 degrees?

Do you have a panohead like the nodal ninja 4?

Do you use a tripod?

Can you upload the sourcefiles as a zipfile to f.e. wetransfer.com?

Is your setup of the NPP correct for tthe used 8mm? With zooms you need different NPPs: one for each focal-length when you work indoors (which i count your motif to) I don´t know whether
it´s the same for your Canon 8.15mm - that´s a question of it´s construction.
Check that from some tableau you most likely find on the web.

Did you set all values correctly in APG? Check them again. Sometimes the EXIFs are not correctly interpreted - especially with UWW/FE-zooms

best, Klaus

PS - Hans meant to send him the images for trying to stitch them for you.

NPP - stands for No Parallax Point - the position at which the camera lens rotates around the entry pupil of the lens on both yaw and pitch axes.

Unless you have your camera lens set correctly at the NPP, and unless you are also using a proper panoramic head, then there is little chance of your getting a good quality stitch.

If you don't know what NPP means then it's very likely that your current setup is not correct which would explain why you are not getting a good quality stitch.

I am sorry you are burdened with a Manfrotto pano head, but that should not matter - does it appear in the image when you stitch and render a pano?
