Nikon D5100 - Camera database

by hermer-blr » Sat May 05, 2012 10:21 am

I was surprised to note in the camera database that the NIKON D5100 has the same setting as the NIKON D5000. As the D5100 has the same CCD as the D7000, I would have guessed for those two cameras (5100 and 7000) sharing the same setting.

Am I wrong ???

In the sensor database, what is really important is the size of the sensor in mm. The technology involved is not ( CCD or CMOS ).
If the sensor is exactly the same as D7000, the value should be the same ( around 1.5 ). A perfect accuracy is not needed ( cameras.txt should not say 1.0 for sure, but 1.5 is okay if it is 1.514 for example ).

OK - Sorry for my erroneous shortcut "CCD". - I meant "sensor".

Both cameras share the same 16 Mpixel sensor.
