PNG file saving : Warning re 2GB+ file

by Skippysky » Thu Oct 12, 2017 2:53 am

When saving a large file to PNG format I get a popup error message stating that PNG files cannot be larger than 2GB.
I know that this is incorrect, as I've converted a 4GB TIFF file into a >2GB PNG using Photoshop CS6.

Also, the image with and height fields in PNG metadata are each 4 byte values, so the total number of allowable pixels in a PNG file is (2^31-1)^2, which I think is about 46 Exabytes...

Perhaps the authors could have a look at this?
