Auto rotate or not to auto rotate?

by digipano » Tue Jan 12, 2010 7:47 am

It seems that the auto rotate consumes lot of GPU/CPU power & slows down the tour & make them jerky on older/slower computers.

What do you generally do start the tour with static image & popping up a graphics telling them how to navigate?

not only auto rotate makes it slow. If you embed a flash animation as oan object from 1-2.5mb to some tours than the 15megapixel pano tour is with fctor 3-5 slower loading than a 200megapixel pano without flashanimations - hosted on the same webserver. Peraps with auto rotation some sort or caching takes place comparable with preloading the flashanimations.

Personally i hate autorotation and popping-up graphics. Post ONE line of text on the main-site/portal and tell the visitor what to do.
90% of them know already how an interactive pano works.
