Any way to name the thumbnail bar?

by digipano » Sun Dec 20, 2009 7:19 am

Is it possible that by editing the xml files can we add title to the thumbnail bar?
Also is it possible to show thumbnails for specified time then it retracts & hides?

Why would you need a name for the thumbnail-bar - it´s inside the window of your named pano . . .

But you can edit the names of the thumbnails shown in the bar. To do so choose the "**.xml" file of your pano.
Here you find the names of the thumbs - edit them starting with "magnify".

best, Klaus

As an example how i changed the names of the thumbs:

Hey digi!

when you open your pano-folder you´ll find a folder named: "xxdata" and therein a folder "graphics".
In "graphics" is the "strap" (the bar´s handler) as .png.
You might type in a name into this strap (negative types) in Photoshop.

I did as you say for the 5 thumbnails (the first one: <plugin name="montparnasse-vercingetorix0" keep="true" zorder="2" url="montparnasse-vercingetorixdata/montparnasse-vercingetorix0/preview.jpg" parent="slide" scale="-1" width="83.3333%" height="prop" align="right" edge="center" x="50%" y="40.8333%" alpha="0.8" ondown="loadpano(montparnasse-vercingetorix0.xml,NULL,NULL,BLEND(1));" onup="" onover="action(magnify,Place de Seoul);" onhover="showtext(Place de Seoul,DEFAULT);" onout="action(lie,Place de Seoul);"/> )
The result:
APT test

The user would easily miss the thumbnail bar unless some readable text is there, thanks for the tip now I made my own bar which is double the size of present bar.

Your renaming tip for each pano is very useful I will try that too, I am testing my 1st tour which is of a 23 panos of one location so the thumbnails are quite small as I have set them at 3% so renaming will surely help & adding a title to thumbnail bar will get the user attention.

Tooltips would be great but will only work when the user takes the mouse over the thumbnails or the bar, the present bar on a 22" inch screen is too small & can be easily missed by most users that's why I renamed it with my text & made my custom bar.

Hi Stu!

Your link doesn´t work!
You have to edit only from "magnify" on. In one row of course just the same name several times.
After that the next row the next name and so on.
In your example you have two different names in one row. ("montparnasse-vercingetorix0.xml" AND "Place de Seoul")
That doesn´t work!

best, Klaus
