Trying to use a PNG format image for the nadir patch in panorama properties. It's one of the formats noted in the open dialog box, but when selected the first time I get a message saying it can not create an image file using it. Have tried PNG output from both PS4 and Fireworks so I don't think it's an issue with the particular PNG format.

What are the options here and if it's only JPG I guess that would mean the nadir has to be a rectangle since there's no blending options associated with the Nadir patch.

Regards,

Robert

pngs are working for me in APT v1.1 beta 5 and in APT v1.0.6 without problem.
I used ArcSoft Photostudio 6.0
and Gimp 2.0
to produce png with default values each time...

Liebe Gruesse,
Georg

Hi Georg,

What format are your input pano files in? I'm using JPGs.

Robert

canon eos400d raws converted to 16bit tiffs.
APG stitching the tiffs
rendering the pano & saving the pano as jpg
adding this jpg inside APT to the project.
than taking the png file for the nadir patch.

Liebe Gruesse,
Georg

Thanks Georg,

More test, it DOES seem that the PNG format produced out PS and Fireworks is NOT compatible with APT. I tried another conversion program and it was able to load into APT. The conversion program did not have any options and appears to not support transparency. This is what I was after with PNG and setting in PS and fireworks.

So, perhaps APT does not support PNG files with transparency? Georg, are you using transparency?

And, I was happy to find the project files from APT are just text files, very easy to read, understand and EDIT! This fact just saved all the work I had done on this project as it was failing to load - having trouble dealing with the PNG logo - and stopping there. I was able to open the abt file in notepad, remove the logo lines, save the file and then it opened fine.

Regards,

Robert

Hi everyone... Regarding the Nadir Patch... It should take a PNG since that would be the most appropriate web bitmap graphic. A 24-bit PNG supports the alpha channel.. ... Nadir Patch needs to be fixed.. Any APT techo's out there???:)

It works for me - using a PNG angular map produced with Pano2VR (example attached, so you can try it) - Windows XP Pro 32-bit with SP3. and APT V1.1 beta 7:

Another user posted a report that it won't work with PNG files produced with Photoshop and Fireworks, but no-one else has reported that:
