In the panorama field, hardware is also part of the success. You can discuss here about it: camera, computer, pano head, anything

That´s about 3 times as much as the Orion/Merlin and still 2 times as much as the Orion/Merlin including a BT/Interface and a controll-unit like a Nokia message pad.
Though the GigaPan is much more limited tha the Orion/Merlin.

Are you kidding? ;):P:cool:

best, Klaus

And then there will be customs import duty and VAT on top of that price for people purchasing from Europe, and shipping cost of course.

And I don't see many DSLRs on the list of compatible cameras, The Epic 100 is for larger P&S/compacts and 'bridge' cameras it seems.

I see it has an illuminated LCD display - such luxury - well so does my Nokia N800 and a much greater resolution.

You won't find me in the queue to buy a Gigapan Epic 100.

Well, the Merlin/Papywizard project is open-source, so all the time people spent on it is not paid. If you had to pay, it will cost more ;)

i thought there will be a more sophisticated standard-version too for longer lenses. it seem epic 100 IS this solution.
i need a turntable not go-stop-shoot. but go and shooting during rotation. can the merlin do this?
my actual display turntable - a cheap display-turntable from MTE.com can only turn 34s/360 and must heavily be changed for shooting with p+s-only cams.
stop and go and go only(constant rotation-option) would be fine.
there is a french turntable for 200 euro but not for photographic purposes.

i have my doubts that epic 100 can carry canon 500d with a heavy lens. 1.4kgs is the limit.
maybe my 135mm zeiss with adapter could make it.

I think it should be possible to take pictures while Merlin is rotating... I have to make tests.
