PC requirements

In the panorama field, hardware is also part of the success. You can discuss here about it: camera, computer, pano head, anything

by Alex_83 » Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:43 am

Hi everybody,
I'm thinking to buy a new desktop computer to work better with panotour.
I would know the right requirements for a PC desktop windows, can someone give me tips?
(Processor, graphic video card, ram, S.O., etc)

My actual configuration is (notebook):

S.O.: Windows 7 (64 bit)
Graphic Video card: Nvidia geforce gt540M (2gb)
Processor: intel core i5-2430M (2,4 ghz), with turbo boost up to 3 ghz
Ram: 8 gb

Thanks

Alex

Alex,

have a search for PTGUI SPEED test http://hdview.at/speedtest/results.html there you can see the configuration - you can then compare how fast you want things to be, and start there!

Best of luck

Henrik

PS: your idea of a good fast machine may very well be different to others

Laptop/tablet Sony Vaio Duo 11
Intel i7 approx. 2.6Ghz+
8GB of ram
256gb SSD
Intel 4000 graphics card

Workstation
Dual Xeon X5650 clocked at 4.2Ghz
48Gb ram (occationally 96GB of ram)
20x SSD's in various RAID config
Areca 1882ix Raid Controller with 4GB cache
GPU NVidia GTX-580
