In the panorama field, hardware is also part of the success. You can discuss here about it: camera, computer, pano head, anything

tripod for freedom 360 rig ?

by asiavr » Sat Dec 14, 2013 1:02 pm

hello:

due to the bottom of the freedom 360 rig isn't flat, you can't mount the rig directly to a ball head or tripod. i want to know what extension tube do you use for connecting between your rig and tripod. the only product that i come across in the market is probably the extension tube from Manfrotto 209+492LONG kit? however is there any other product available in the market that can do the job?

thank you

I have a Manfrotto 259B - the key part of the kit you cited:

http://www.manfrotto.co.uk/extension-fo ... ipod-black

I use it with a Bophoto bracket and it's well made, works well and also reduces the 'footprint' of the tripod head.

Yes, but not always easy to find a local retailer that stocks it.

The Freedom360 comes with a black adapter in the side pocket, to convert the male 1/4 to female 3/8, which mounts directly to any tripod. With the same adapter, you can connect the Freedom360 also to a Manfrotto209 short extension pole, or to the Manfrotto Dado system, or any other similar poles.

If you are missing the adapter, please contact either me via email, or the reseller you bought it from.

The general idea is to keep the footprint of any support as small as possible, to minimize the amount of tripod later in the video: This is the reason why Kolor and Freedom360 sell monopods for the 360 video. My personal favorite is the NodalNinja 6m CF pole, which I love for its reach and versatility.

If you want/need, you could consider Freedom360 5x Adapter (also available at the Kolor store):

This will limit the configuration to 4-around, 1-up.

Best
