HD/SD Formats

by cgm4967 » Fri Aug 28, 2015 12:45 pm

So we add our main 360/180 movie and it is 1440 or 1080 or whatever...then we add the high res alternative files and low res alternative files....webm and ogv.

When a user goes to your tour by default he/she will get the Main high res file or does the software figure out based on the users speed what file to use?

Also, when you have the quality controls active of the video control bar and the user changes it from the main movie to HD for instance is he/she using one of the movies you put in that alternative high res space? If so, how would you return to your Main movie that I'm sure will be a higher res version than anything you put in the alternative spaces?

Thanks.

The player doesn't figure out the user bandwidth speed.

HD : In fact the main file and others alternatives files high res are used at the same time and the player try to target the best choice for the browser into this list.

SD : In this case the player try to target the best choice for the browser into the low resolution list.

SD is used by default on tablet/mobile and MacOSX Safari
HD is used by default on desktop.
So if you have a HD scene on desktop and select the SD with the quality selector after a change of scene if you go back to the video scene the HD will be used not the SD.
