Freedom 360 rig heat issues

by oscargramer » Wed Jun 15, 2016 2:09 pm

I recently purchased the standard freedom360 bundle rig from Kolor. It works fine for shorter clips but if I run it for more than 15 minutes or so then cameras will start shutting down due to overheating. I even put the hole thing in the fridge and started a recording but even then they would start to shut down after 20 minutes.

I'm shooting at 1440p 60 FPS with wi-fi on connected to the GoPro remote.

Any advice on how to lessen this problem? If not with this rig then which one? I know GoPro's omni will be aluminum and looks to have a more airy design that hopefully solves the issue, but I can't wait 'til august. I'm looking to make longer running shoots. Preferably around an hour or longer if possible.

it's a problem related to the freedom 360-rig in use with the hero 4-cameras. GoPro's own rig hopefully doesn't have this issue. I've somewhat solved my own problem by lowering the recording resolution to 960p.
