Destiny wrote:So, the bottom line is... why bother creating anything for iDevices since there are just so many restrictions...
So, now the question has to be asked.. How is html5 going to help..
Destiny wrote:Hi... well... one step forward and five steps back... I am trying to find a compromise with video viewing on a PC, Mac and iDevices.... using the same pano tour...

1. You seem to be using Qucktime for the video - most Windows users will not have Quicktime installed.
2. I didn't notice any link back from the video to the tour.

Destiny wrote:Well... iPad supports only mp4 and h.264 video but you can use QT to play them...
The link back to tour is up and working now and it goes to 'self'... but I will have to work out a way of getting the ptp link to go to 'self'.... It all still look tatty since its all just a mockup testing ground... ...

It seems to be taking us far away from the 'spirit' of PT/PTP which is to make virtual tour authoring (for the krpano players) easy via a GUI authoring tool, for those who don't wish to hand code the krpano XML control files.

I guess I'm just a grumpy old man.
There are obviously two main categories of potential PT/PTP user.
Those who are willing and able to hack the XML and those who are not.
IF it's Kolor's intention that PTP should be really attractive to those willing and able to hack the XML then I feel they need to provide a krpano licence with PTP and add some features to facilitate such usage - for example, an integrated XML editor, or the ability to integrate a third-party XML editor; the ability to 'preserve' custom code if you later modify and export the tour again; and thorough documentation of how PTPs templates and themes interact when code is generated on export and the structure of the exported code. Altough I' ve written on many occasions that Autopano Tour and now PTP could be perceivd and used as a Rapid Application Development aid for krpano hand coders I'm not aware of many experienced krpano hand coders who've adopted PTP.
On the other hand those who are not willing or able to hack the XML will want many more features to be made available via the GUI. They will not be satisfied with the 'you can always edit the XML' response to requests for additional features in the GUI. I dare say you too would be very happy not to have to hack the XML if the functionality you sought was available via the GUI?
As things stand I feel that PTP is neither one thing nor the other; and I'm not at all sure that PTs current very restricted feature set will prove to be very appealing to anyone.
