Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share this one here with you. Now if you look into the sunrise....what do you see - here you see this! ![]()
Some specs
1st Image
Canon EOS 1D MkIII - EF 24-70mm f/2.8
ReallyRightStuff omni-Pano head - Manually rotated by yours truly
150 images, bracket 2 stops apart in 5's so about ten stops between high and low
Now I have cheated here, so my apology if it offense, (hit it would be really nice if we could get that HDR working in APG :-))
So I have used the other software - and the HDR-part is done in Photomatix 3.2.9
and finished to this stage in Photoshop CS5.
2nd image
same gear but at 28mm
but only 60 images, in sets of 3's two stops apart and shot earlier
Hope you enjoy them it was fun making them, even getting up on a cold winter morning here in sunny Perth, Western Australia :-)
Henrik
PS: feel free to critique

Salut Gars,
Henrik
PS : sentez-vous libres au critique

Hi hendrik,
Please accept the following views as my personal ones and also that they come from a person not necessarily expert at photography.
Technically It looks like you have achieved a good stitch and particularly on the second image, a good exposure since shooting into the sun.
Not being able to zoom into the first image, I wonder why you took so many more shots than the second one, seeing that they are both the same size on screen. (BTW my screen is not calibrated and I see the second image better in photoshop). Perhaps the intended use for each image varies. The HDR element has lightened the shadow areas, but in my preference a little too much. I would have expected a little more shadow in some of the areas especially where the centre building is shading the foliage and foreground. Nevertheless a technically good rendition. Knowing how bright the sun is in Australia i would also like to see more contrast, but only a little. Thanks for posting the panos and accepting other peoples views on the results.

Hendrick,
Just to expand on my comments so you can get an idea of what I see as a well exposed and capured image, have a look at this site
http://www.tawbaware.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?t=6022. Not sure what the process was but I like the results in the first image

hi Irpano & taf,
thanks for looking, and i appreciate the comments.
Irpano, I would hope you are expressing your personal view :-) and I do appreciate what you are saying and i will take it a bit further. I had scaled the images down to make a more web friendly, so i need to work out how to present them better.
As for contrast, yes, I wasn't sure if I was going too far which is why I posted them up for some comments and I hope to get more.
You are very right, that the sun is extremely hard to shoot into, which was the whole point of this excersice, but I actually got there a little to late to the shoot, traffic was really bad, even at that time of day.
The intended purpose on both of these are to be printed, the top one is about 60x20in @300dpi as is. I know there is still more work to be done on these. I want to get a little more detail of of them, and yes part of that is also to increase the contrast.
Another reason for posting this was to show a shot not shot in the middle of day, as most shots are here.
the link is really nice, thanks - keep commenting, i will have another go a bit later in the week, when the paid work is out of the way :-)
Henrik
how do i present this, so you can zoom into the image?

Hendrik, Have you loked at PanotoVr as a way to allow zooming within the image. I'm not used it much and not sur if the forum can support .Mov files

Tived,
If you like I can send you a email with an attached Pano2VR file that will show how it works. You will need to reply via forum with your email address.

HI John,
Thanks for the link, that is really nice hdr work there, but in a slightly less contrasty scene, then the one above with direct sun
I still have work to do :-) to improve
