If you want to see where I work (well, I'm not employed here, but detached), here is a nice virtual tour (not made by me) of the 'Institut Laue Langevin', an international neutron research center, located in Grenoble (yes, a nuclear reactor so close to such a big city is amazing!):

He is the guy in charge of our laboratory (I don't know if 'laboratory' is the right term; we use it as a sub-division of a service, which is a sub-division of an institute...).

the fourth nuke is currently on the way... in a 80km radius around the nuke 70 active (underwater) vulcanos...

Though most neither know, peoples living in Grenoble escaped the first (single in the world ?) nuclear city steam system... The mayor was a nuclear engineer, Municipal Council was embarrassed, the boss of Compagnie de Chauffage de l'agglomération grenobloise solved the question by establishing this would not be compatible with existing pipes...

Another funny thing: some of the few people knowing about the existence of this nuclear reactor think it is used to power up the synchrotron, which is next to ILL!
But there is no generator, here; it just produces neutrons (cold ones, hot ones, thermical ones...). And, for sure, radioactive wastes. But this is for the good of humanity

Well it pays your salary and thus (indirectly) enables us to have the benefit of Papywizard; so, yes, it does most definitely benefit some small section of humanity!

But, well, this is fundamental research, so, results are far from being usable by us, simple citizens...
BTW, what do you think about the panos?

Who cares about the panos when we have nuclear plants to talk about
This particular tour is nicely done, although the industrial views are not really my cup of tea... The panos on Laurent Thion's site are very nice, however!

to have an virtual tour online in such detail of a potentially dangerous facility.... hmm... today sometimes its really easy to gather information. hopefully only simple citizens are using this info...

You don't really see dangerous things, here. Who want to copy the way we arrange our cables?
There are other panos of the reactor itself, but they are not public (I didn't see them myself).
