Re: IR Pano Exercise

Wow!  I just loved that!  I have been wanting to get into IR. Any advice?  I dont even know where to begin.  Once I read that I would have to have the sensor bypass filter removed from my Nikon in order to do IR.   No way!

Re: IR Pano Exercise

You can go the full hog and have a DSLR converted solely to shoot IR costing approx £250 - £300 to convert or alternatively for approx. £14 try using just a IR filter fitted to your lens.  Ebay is a good source for these.

Best way is the conversion.  Recently went this route myself and picked up an old Canon 350D off ebay for £110 and converted that to IR.  Now have a dedicated body for IR and my usual 400D for everything else and swap lenses in between the two of them.

why not using normal images and than using the mask feature from krpano, like the x-ray example:

Re: IR Pano Exercise

Just prefer the IR solution that I have now and how the images are created.

Re: IR Pano Exercise

A lot of the KRPano effects are just gimmicks and should never be confused with real photography smile

Re: IR Pano Exercise

Hello again irpano,

Very nice image. I still would love to try IR someday, but my plate is too full at the moment. Would love to see more of your images. Thanks for posting.

Re: IR Pano Exercise

Thanks TerryT, i'm on the road at present and go in and out of internet access. I sent a message before but it doesnt seem to be on the forum. You can try (With some difficulty) IR with a R72 filter in front of your lense. Its ecconomicall and if used correctly will give you true IR images.  I've not found a plugin or effects filter that can simulate IR very well. Will try to post an image soon.

Re: IR Pano Exercise

Hey irpano,

I presume there are other IR-panos out there somewhere, but yours are the only ones' I have ever seen. LOVE THEM!!!

Regarding the Grampions Mountain: I love the swirling abstract clouds and how they curve over the horizon. (you MIGHT want to photoshop/erase the utility lines, though they don't bother me too much).

Regarding the squarish pano, Camp in the Grampions: it reminds me of the nighttime phosphorescent scenery from the movie Avatar. I love how the near-whitish foliage explodes forward from the blue-black background. Great!

I would suggest you show a stackful of your IR-photos-panos to a publisher and see if you could get a book deal.

Thanks for sharing,

T
