Exposure Fusion - Photomatrix or APG?

I've took the Merlin and my toys out to the harbour this morning to give it a good run out. Using bracketed exposures to get some detail into the strong shadows generated by the low early morning sun and the blue sky.

Back in the cottage I've found that using APG to blend the images tends to give an over exposed image. If I run the groups of 3 images through Photomatrix batch mode to create master fused images the final output from APG using the fused images is significantly better.

Are there any controls within APG to control the level of fusion/shadow/highlighting  being applied to the bracketed images or should I stay with Photomatrix and then APG?

Until such time as Kolor delivers promised effective exposure blending and HDR processing within APP/APG the consensus seems to be that it's best to perform such processes before stitching.

Cheers mediavets, I thought I was missing something. I'll stick with Photomatrix Pro that has all the functionality I need.

It does mean I will have to edit the generated Papywizard project files as the number of images being processed will be less but that's a minor issue.
