will it work?

hi all,
i still playing around with the trial version of app.  my notebook is 3 years old and not really strong enough to deal with bigger panos.
i am not planning to stitch more than 25 pictures, or pictures bigger than 10000x10000.
will a notebook with:

windows 7
i5-430 cpu
4gb of ram
640gb hard disk

be enough for a decent speed? i would like to render a pano and meanwhile be able to work on the next...

any ideas or comments are welcome.

Re: will it work?

Wait a second, you have 3-year old laptop that has i5 CPU??? That's not possible, I think.

If you're using MultiBand blender, I don't think you'll have any problem rendering almost any size of panorama. Also, why are you asking instead of testing it out? The trial APP behaves the same way the registered version, they are the same.

Re: will it work?

You want a supported GPU so you can have a fast pano preview in the Panorama Editor window, and you want enough RAM to be able to postprocess your pano. Rendering time doesn't matter does it? With everything changing, it's hard to predict which parameter will play the biggest role in the future, and when. It looks like AP-2.1 (which AFAIR is due for this month) or AP-2.2 will feature a new implementation of smartblend which will not grind your HDs so much and instead use RAM wisely.

Re: will it work?

Hi there,

My graphics card isn't supported to provide GPU processing so what specifications would the forum recommend for GPU processing?

Canon 400D / Canon 24-105mm L / Sigma 8mm f3.5 FE / Sigma 10-20mm / Sigma 70-300mm / NN3 & R1 / PS CS2 / LR3 / Enfuse

Re: will it work?

What do you have now? Any recent GPU will do. I mean, you can get a freaking 9800GT for a hundred bucks and a GTS250 with 1GB ram for under 200! Remembering the days I had to pay almost 300$ for my GF Ti4200... *sigh*
