Magnetic AutoTrigger Rotator

Magnetic AutoTrigger Rotator - this looks really good to me:

Apparently the cost for a fully built rig ready to accept camera/lens is $975 - 0uch! - and that doesn't include delivery, import duty and VAT.

So I'm sad to say that I won't be getting one any time soon.

Re: Magnetic AutoTrigger Rotator

oops that is quite expensive, as you can get heavy duty servo pans around 100-150$

The maker says that the NN-R1 mount element cost $189 and the K-Tek boom pole costs $229 to start with.

He admits it's priced for the pro market shooting from real helicopters (he reckons they charge nearly $700 per heli shot pano) and not for hobbyists.

I'd like a lower cost variant for pole panos - do you fancy going into production?

Re: Magnetic AutoTrigger Rotator

what's the shutter triggering system used? without pauses, night panos are not possible, it'll cause light streaks.

The R1 will require a lens ring which is sold separately at around $97.xx USD each. See http://store.nodalninja.com/category_s/66.htm for full range.

He's actually using the R10 which has a fixed tilt degrees depending on the lens and body used. The R1 allow multiple tilt degrees.

It was designed specifically for aerial panos shot from helicopters - in daylight - not night panos.

with your tests, what's the slowest shutter this rig can take a good pano? say at ISO 800, F8.

I have no experience of this device - you'll have to ask the designer:
