Do you suppose Papywizard will run on N900/Maemo 5?
Offline
Funny you ask, because I was about to test PySide, a new Python/Qt binding developed by Nokia (new Qt owner).
PySide API is compatible with PyQt, so Papywizard should work out-of-the-box. I will download it on my PC/linux, and make some tests. PySide also exists for Maemo 5, so, if someone has a N900, please let me know, so we can make some tests on this plateform too.

Well the N900 is not on the market yet, but I'm keeping my eye on it! Thanks for the info!

My first tests with PySide are very promising: there are some issues, which are on the bug tracker of the PySide team. So, they should be fixed. But I was able to run most of the application without big changes in the code.

Just got this news article from a software supplier that might be of interest to people here. For mac users wanting to control their camera from their iphone

Hi fma38, is papywizard now working with the N900? or are there still issues with it?

Id on't have feedback yet... It is possible to install a SDK on a PC to emulate the N90. If someone is able to install it, I can package a version of Papywizard using PySide, to make some tests.

Hi fma38, I am able to install the N900 SDK and do a test for you. I'm currently using Winxp and Win7, so it should install on one or the other. are there any other files I should install?
Best

You need to install PySide (see http://www.pyside.org), and pybluez.

I have received my N900 and was wondering how to get Papywizard up and running. That was to my big surprise quite simple:
- install Python full package from pick-and-install-menus
- install the papywizard_2.0.0-1_all.deb -- Maemo package
that's it ! so far at least.
but I can't get the N900 to communicate with the "PapyMerlin" Deltawave BT module
the red LED on the module usually stops blinking when there is a lockon.
my N900 finds the module and ask for the password, but the module continues to blink
anyone who has got it working ?

Did you try the latest dev version - V2.1.18?

Do you like the device? I think about buying one.

Leif, did you try to install python2.5-bluez and python2.5-runtime, using the wiki procedure?
Could you also try to install PySide:
http://www.pyside.org/downloads
If you can, I will try to build a package against this lib, instead of PyQt...

I have been using a SonyEricsson P1i and is quite happy with it. It can't run Papywizard though.
The N900 is gorgeous. And there is headroom for whatever application one would want.
Right now it lacks sync with Novell Groupwise, which I use at work. And Papywizard does not work, which I suppose will be ironed out soon.
Do I like it ?
As a device it is very slick. As a computer it seems very flexible and powerful.
I guess the N900 is the state of art by now for those who are more interested in power than in a glossy GUI (it's not multitouch).
I like it !

I have installed PyQt4 Complete Python binding set for Qt4 as of
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maem … on2.5-qt4/
I will add bluez and see what happens

Also add the python2.5-runtime; it should exists.
But if you still have problems with this dependency, just download papywizard deb file on your Nokia, and, from the xterm:
$ sudo gainroot
# dpkg -i --force-depends papywizardxxx.deb

This is what happened:
JBusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso26+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
~ $ sudo gainroot
Enable RD mode if you want to break your device
~ $ apt-get install python2.5-bluez
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
~ $
Any suggestions on how to install bluez ?

I think you didn't install godmod, so you can't become root... Read carefully this page:
http://www.autopano.net/wiki-en/action/ … e_and_PyQt
Once your are root, the prompt should be a #, instead of a $...
