Can't open jpeg files on Linux

My CCD cameras create FITS files. It would be good to be able to open them directly in Autopano Pro but converting them to jpeg and opening them would do. I can use exiftool to add the focal length etc. to have the pictures render correctly.

I open the directory, select the jpegs and try to open them. Nothing imports.

If I convert the FITS files to png Autopano Pro opens them but of course there is no exif information.

Is there some option I've missed or some shared library not being found?

Re: Can't open jpeg files on Linux

What do you use to create those JPG files?
Also, why do you use JPG and not TIFF? Intermediate files should be lossless.
