Hi,
I'm new to Papywizard and Merlin. I've just installed PW 2.1.9-1 on my eeePC 1000H with Windows XP.
When in PW, I go to "Hardware", "Plugins" and I set all 3 Yaw, Pitch and Shutter to "Merlin-Orion" & "bluetooth".
Then I go to drivers and and click on "Select" (for the bluetooth) and an error shows "Can't scan bluetooth. No bluetooth adapter detected".
This is the complete error log:
2009-06-18 16:55:19,921::Dummy-8::EXCEPTION::refreshBluetoothList()
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "papywizard\controller\bluetoothChooserController.pyo", line 107, in refreshBluetoothList
File "papywizard\common\bluetoothTransport.pyo", line 83, in discoverDevices
File "bluetooth\msbt.pyo", line 7, in discover_devices
IOError: No Bluetooth adapter detected
2009-06-18 16:55:20,015::MainThread::ERROR::Can't scan bluetooth
No Bluetooth adapter detected
I've also tried with SERIAL, using the COMx port shown on the Bluetooth conection by Windows. But it does not work, it can't connect.
From the bluetooth asistant in Windows I reach the BT-device without problems.
Edit:
I've a Broadcom BT-253 bluetooth device integrated on the eeePC. I've also tested from another laptop (HP with it own drivers) and I've the same problem.
Any ideas?
Thank you,

Try removing the Broadcom bluetooth stack, and installing the generic microsoft one. Papywizard doesn't seem to like much else(or actually pyBluez doesn't). Alternatively I've had better luck running Papywizard through ubuntu. Head did weird things in windows...but please let me know if you do get it to work in Windows. Might help me out.

Hi Tarnis,
I've also tried this. I've deinstaled the driver, reboot Windows, and it has automaticaly installed the driver. I see the driver is from Broadcom and it has the Microsoft digital signature.
Is this what you mean?
Thank you.

Damned, the adapter should work fine with the Windows driver... Did you remove the complete Broadcom bluetooth stack, from the application manager?

Hi Frédéric,
I've removed the WIDCOMM/Bradcom Bluetooth from the Application Manager (Add/Remove programs). Now the BT icon on the taskbar has disappeared.
Now when I turn on the bluetooth on the eeePC it says to install the driver. But I do not know witch to install... It does not install any from Microsoft automaticaly...
Thank you,

Ok, I understand. Unfortunally, I don't know where to download the microsoft bluetooth stack. I though is was always installed...

Hi all,
You can follow the last step (step 3) of this procedure :

I've tried with the BT driver I found here: http://www.vinsvision.com/Articles/tabi … fault.aspx
Now seems to work, PW has found the MAC for the BT-module and I can move the Merlin up/down and sides...
I'm now testing it. But it seems slow when clicking the yaw/pitch buttons on PW and some times PW program does not respond...
Calude, I'll see what wat you say...
Thank's

Doctor Claude
I've already do that. But when booting again it does not found any BT driver... And on the Hardware Manager the BT device is shown without any driver.

I also have an eeepc1000HA, using a bluetooth dongle from http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866
it is a $2.47 tiny dongle that utilizes the window stack and worked the first time with a fresh install of papywizard 2.1.9

Hi solock,
For the price it has, I've just ordered one... thank you!
I think it will take some days to deliver to Spain...

I've been unable to have it working again after PW has hangup. I've tried to reinstall the BT stack, but nothig, it does not work.
I'll continue trying...

Hi Guillermo,
The most usefull way of moving the head by the PC is to use the "arrows" key's and not the mouse ...
The trials you have made seems not to give good results ...
I use personnaly allways the BT stacks from Widcomm Bluetooth software version 6.1.0.2000 with full satisfaction!
The actual version is the 6.3.0.200 and you can dowload and install from here:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
You can also read the items under "before you begin" for Windows XP / Windows 2000 ...![]()

So I think the problem is elsewhere...

Good! But I wonder why the internal bluetooth device does not work...

Now I'm testing it again... and it does not work...![]()
The first time it worked I've been moving yaw and pitch, taking some test pictures and so.
Then I had to close all and go out. Now I've turn all on again and the problem I've is different.
With the external USB-BT dongle, PW detects the BT-module without any problem, but when I try to connect it shows "Establishing connection..." for ever...
I've turned all off, on again, changed the Merlin batteries, unplug the BT, restart Windows... nothig solves this...
Frédéric, any ideas?
Thank you,
Guillermo

Which version are you using? Can you send me the logs?

Hi Guillermo,
We are on the good way ! ![]()
But it stay very frustrating !
What I suggest is to put the internal BT "off" and then try with the external only again !

I think this is the log of the new session; I need the log when you tried to connect... Look in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp
for the papywizard.log files (there can be 3 files, .1 and .2, which are older ones. Check which one contains the logs you need).
Offline
I don't understand anything...!
When going to search the temp files, I've deleted them to send you a new ones only with the connection errors. Then, when trying to connect again, it has connected without problems. I'm now taking a pano...
What I see now is that on the Shooting screen it appears the image squares on the top and no axis telling where it is shooting now. Is not like the simulation. I do not know if this is ok or not...
Edit:
Now that is taking the pano, I see the squares they appear is only the ones of the last row and the axis also appears. So it seams the like the first rows are out of the screen.
Thank you,
Guillermo
