Potential time lapse track and dolly for Merlin

This is a good example of a time lapse track and dolly for Merlin.  I need to work on this after I make my cable for my Merlin.  I just rcvd the USB TTL USART adapters to make the cables.

I have been planning on building something like this.  I have recently been improvising using a baby stroller : )  I have been using virtualdub and a deflicker filter.

Re: Potential time lapse track and dolly for Merlin

Paul, I would consider using something similar to what you mentioned above for video in a studio, but I need something that is lighter and portable for doing time lapse photography.  I will make my own as any of the solutions are expensive.  I will mount the Merlin on the dolly.

Re: Potential time lapse track and dolly for Merlin

JohnM, Thanks for the link to timescapes.  I have been examining the different designs that have been posted on the forum.

ClaudeH, I am still designing the dolly.  I started to make a dolly out of wood because it requires less tools and does not weigh so much.  I am trying to achieve a design that is light and sturdy.  I would like it to be able to smoothly move up a ladder that is vertically oriented.

Re: Potential time lapse track and dolly for Merlin

I see a Mumford Time Machine controller on the dolly, not sure if it controlling the camera or moving the dolly but the system is capable of doing both.

The Cognisys Stopshot system is primarily a high speed photography system but I know they are also developing a stepper controller for focus stacking photography (Stackshot) which could easily be modified for long linear movements. I own both systems and I'm looking forward to the release of the stepper controller which will integrate very nicely into a project of this type controlling the camera and the stepper. http://www.cognisys-inc.com/stackshot/s … fd1d2f15f5
