A friend of mine got his N810 yesterday. H loaded down some Python-stuff and Papywizard - but PW doesn´t start.
His english isn´t good and i have no time to help him more intensively at the moment.
So i ask in his name here for a simply advice - maybe a short diagram - what he needs to do. I suggested to update the firmware already (it´s one version behind) - but that shouldn´t be the problem i mean.
What Pyton-stuff does he need different on the N810 - i told him what i use on the N800?
Is there any special Maemo-stuff he needs?

Installation for the N800 and N810 running current version of OS2008 is the same.
If he's running OS2007 then he should upgrade to latest OS2008.
If he has OS2008 installed it is still very worthwhile to upgrade to tbe latest version of OS2008 to start with.
Then follow these instructions to install Papywizard 1.6.x - is his English good enough to follow these?:

Installing 1.9.x is more complicated and I suggest he starts with 1.6.x.

I´ll try to make a kind of "tree"-plan how to do - but i´m not sure i will be correct, because in my case i had your´s and Fred´s help and i understood the Wiki - and my son´s experienced with Linux.
He already installed the same Python add-ons which i have on my N800 - that´s why i don´t underestand his problems . .
What´s to be installed besides of them?

If you can understand/translate my instructions (linked in previous post) for install of PW1.6.x that will be the simplest approach.
Installing 1.9.x is more complicated and requires different/extra 'stuff'.

When Papywizard does not start, you should ask him to launch it from x-term (by typing 'papywizard.sh'). Then, ask him to send the output. I think we will be able to find what is the problem.

There are 2 problems.
1) how to find what on the Nokia if you are not used to it.
(Let's face it, it's not a Mac 
2) language
If the Nokia is set in german it's hard to understand, where is what, when you read the Wiki in english.
It's very easy to forget one step from the Wiki.
Andrew made a very good job to write it but speaking for myself, I don't like JUST text.
I'm a screenshot-guy I want to see pictures just like Claudes cable PDF's. (Great job Claude !)
I've done a N770 (with help) flashing the OS + the rest and a N810 (by myself) again flashing the OS to the latest + the rest and at the N810, I missed one step. (maemo-python-device-env it was I guess)
Took me some time to see what I've done wrong.
But at the end all is working.
Maybe your friend need another friend (with time and some skills) who can read english to help him.
And a step by step screenshot PDF (+text) would help a lot more......

at the weekend i´ll have more time - he´s living 300km away - to make a diagram for him.
The languag-barrier is a real problem for him.
