Nokia 770 white screen of death (WSOD)?

I haven't even gotten my Tronisoft Bluetooth kit and it appears that my Nokia 770 has died. sad  It was a never-used one that I have had for less than a month and used less than 10 times for short periods.  I booted it up and the screen was just white with vertical grey stripes.  It is running just fine, but apparently this is a common defect in the screen controller electronics. mad

I guess I will be looking into an N800 or N810 now.  Does anyone have an opinion on whether there is any advantage in buying the 810 from the standpoint of controlling the head?  It is a lot more expensive.

Anyone in the U.S. have a 770 that they no longer need after getting the newer one?

Frank (Bigwade) is the only person I know of who is running Papywizard on an N810.

I have an N800 and I'm very happy with it after initially using a 770 - the N800 is much faster all around.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any advantage for the N810 over the N800 for running Papywizard.

Re: Nokia 770 white screen of death (WSOD)?

If running PW is your only goal, find a N800 on eBay.
I got my N810 for the same amount of money here in Holland as if I had bought a N800 from eBay incl. shipment and taxes.
The N810 has some extra gadgets like a real keyboard etc.
It's much faster than a N770 and I have a much, much better wifi connection.
For running PW all this is not needed.

Hard to imagine a better wifi connection - I was really impressed with the reception on the 770.  It was far better than my laptop!  I see a N800 on Craigslist for $100, so I may go with that and skip the keyboard.  However, isn't the screen on the 810 reflective so that it will work a lot better in the sun/outdoors?
