[Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

I'm designing a splashscreen for the v2. Which font do you prefer?

Last one looks ok, but it has some too obvious kerning problems: P-a, r-d, p-y...

Yes, you're right; but it can be easily fixed.

Hey fma38, I just had an idea maybe we could all have a go designing a new splashscreen and vote on it? all you would need to do is set the dimensions and colours the we could use?

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

Why not cool

- dimensions: the best is to work in SVG, a vectorial format. This way, it will be possible to scale it without loss. Final size will depend on the plateform (N8x0 have small screens).
- colors: as I want the logo integrated, choose colors which match wink

You can find hub's logo in SVG here:

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

I think 'Loading...' would be more conventional (if less precise).

Do you plan to have versions in every supported language?

If not the drop the text (other than Papywizard, of course).

BTW what is the name font the font use are using for 'Papywizard'?

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

The messages are dynamically written from the app, and refreshed during the booting sequence. They are the same as in the logs. I can translate them, at least the ones which appear *after* the translations files are loaded, which is not done immediatly. So, the first 2 messages will always be in english, then, other ones will be localized.

The font I used here is called TSCu_comic. It is a truetype font. You can download it from here:

http://www.gbiloba.org/download/TSCu_Comic.ttf

I used Xara Extrem to design this splashscreen.

Hmmm.......I can't find a drawing program to open the Papywizard logo SVG file. I usually use Mediachance ProDraw which claims to be able import SVG files but I don't get to see to logo after import. I even downloaded and installed Xara Extreme and it won't open or import SVG files.

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

I also have issued between different programs loading svg. Here is the splashscreen I made in Xara svg format:

Hope you will be able to use the logo...

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

This is a SVG file from Xara, and it seems that only Xara is able to load it correctly.

Ok, I will produce a huge png image for the logo, so you will be able to work with any resolution you want. I think 400x300 px is OK for the splashscreen..

Loads fine in Inkscape, an excellent open source vector app.

Nice! Thank's for your contribution smile

Which font did you use? My inkscape install doesn't have it...

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

Ahh sorry, it's one called forte, I'll have a look to see where I got it.

Most of the time I get them from dafont.com but an initial look though it doesn't show it up.

Found it - http://resources.bravenet.com/free_fonts/script/12

Re: [Papywizard v2] Splashscreen

No worries, its been far too long since I did any vector work so it was good to blow the cobwebs off.
