I guess everyone has to learn to walk before running and I'm discovering creating panoramas duly applies.
I have experienced problems such as simply trying to open or find a folder as taught by the tutorial and while it worked at first, simply stopped working. Anyway I discovered another 'tool' opens it for me. Andrew has been very helpful and suggested that my images don't have the proper EXIF information alongside the image at the bottom. He suggested opening a folder in APP of unprocessed images right from the camera (with no pre-processing) and double click on an image and I'll see this EXIF info. However I am unable to open ANY individual image in APP because every time I do this I get a message popping up that says "Select more than one image to build a panorama!'
What's my problem?

Just because APP is unable to do anything with only 1 image. Select 2 images, and all will work fine.

I'm not trying to create a panorama at this point -only to see the EXIF info attached to each image. Andrew
was able to open ONE image.

Frédéric´s right. You have to import at least 2 images. APP is a stitcher - you can´t stich a single image . . . 
My workflow is to select/grab all the pics i need inside their folder and move them into the group-window.

Look at this sequence on screenshots - and try to emulate the process.
1. Add a New Group.
2. Select Add Images.
3. Select the images you wish to add.
4. Double click on a thumbnail image in the group panel.
5. View the image with EXIF data overlayed if it is available.
Clear now? Rocket science it ain't. 
I always select the images I want to stitch this way rather than letting APP try to figure out which images make up a pano from a mass of images in a folder.

Andrew - it's obvious that the software you're using and the software I'm using are quite different. Take a look at your step by step and compare to mine. Right from the start it's different right through. As you can see I don't get the thumbnails that you earlier spoke about. And when I click 'open' it goes directly to the stitched image. I don't see where I can open mine the way you do. I would appreciate hearing from other Mac users. It's not rocket science. It's Microsoft software.

No. Despite Andrew uses a PC and you (and i) use a Mac there´s no such difference in terms of your problem.
I know very well what you´re showing in your screenshots.
Please follow the steps:
1) use the splitted view (6th icon from the left)
2) select a new group-window.
3) select/grab your images and move them into the group-window.
4) use "Auto" as colorcorrection
5) use the anchors-tool to set a "hard anchor" to a spot which you wish to have as a reference for the whole image.
you can set more than one and change thy type of the anchors.
6) read the documetation - it´s rudimentary i know, but it helps.

I appreciate a Mac user taking me through this as A-B may be the same getting there is not. First of all the steps you're now showing me are totally different than the tutorial. So I appreciate your input. First of all I looked at your last image and it didn't show the EXIF in the bottom left corner that Andrew shows. I assume by your comments that there is no difference between Mac programs and PC's. I got as far as third image before running into snags. The first image fine.
The second image I couldn't 'drag' a folder into box area however I was able to open a folder. See image three. Ok here's where I hit a snag - there is as you can see no 'AUTO' as colorcorrection so I stopped at stage 3. Can you help me here? (Beginning at 4))

Tim - you're just what the Doctor ordered. It's great to see a Mac user explain it so clearly. And best of all is my 'tools' worked were exactly as you described. My wife and I were most fortunate to visit our son in Australia who was on an exchange program in medicine in Brisbane. We fell in love with your country.

You may find it handy if you run into other problems.
I did not go into detail about optimising the stitching etc., but you will probably find you are pretty right from here on in. Everyone here is so helpful, so you will likely get the tips you need as you need them just as I have.

Tim - I've been sailing along making some pans and then ran in to a problem.
I open the file with pictures no problem- then I want to 'start detection' however what comes up is only part of screen. Here's what i get:

Any ideas?
